Why Family Ministry

"After God brought a radical conversion and transformation to our family in 1998..."

God brought radical conversion to our family in 1998, and since that time, we have felt a deep desire to see the salvation and healing  of Christ  come into the hearts of hurting youths and families!

Our journey to full-time ministry started with a prayer one night on our kitchen floor. New Years Eve 2004, we dropped down on our knees in our kitchen and specifically prayed that God would “break our hearts for what breaks His”. We continued over the next year to pray that prayer, asking for more direction on this missional pull we were feeling deep in our souls.
 
One answer to that prayer was a prompting to adopt a boy from China. We prayerfully watched as God moved many mountains! In September 2005, we went to China to bring home our son from a special needs orphanage. Our travels through China were the beginning of the process of God showing us what broke his heart. Adopting Sammy gave us a three dimensional view and perspective of God’s love for us.

Desiring to live out the balance of our lives as instructed in Romans 12:1-2, God brought cross-cultural missions into our hearts.

We had both been in the marketplace our whole lives, with Mike owning two successful businesses, and Dawn working as a Medic in the Emergency Room. We left those careers, sold our house & most of our stuff, which freed us up to pursue this call that God has put on our lives.

Before serving overseas with The Evangelical Alliance Mission, Dawn & I spent a year in missions training through Institute for Cross Cultural Training at Wheaton College and Biblical Studies from Moody Bible Institute.

We have taken 3 mid-term missionary journeys to Taiwan and are now praying and preparing to do an internship with Family Foundations International in Bogota'.

We have a deep desire to see the love and healing of Jesus spread throughout every family. Please join us in praying for God's Kingdom to breakthrough!
